As Avalon grew, so did its demand for agriculture. Duke Ellingsworth opportunistically proposed to the Proudfoots, a halfling family in Avalon, that he would provide them armed escort to the central plains of Ferroview, so they could establish a farming settlement.

This venture was successful, and the farming village of Eldenwich was officially established. As part of the village's founding documents, Ellingsworth secured 50% of all future farming profits for himself. In exchange, the Duke's hired militia remain stationed in Eldenwich to this day to ensure the village's protection.

Eldenwich is one of the older settlements in the Ferroview region. The governance is more communal than structural, but the elders of the Proudfoot, Nettleton, & Butterscotch families are usually respected for resolving disputes.
